I Need Help Dress Shopping

I need to recruit some help finding a couple dresses to wear to my senior banquet (May 13) and graduation (May 22). I have terrible, terrible luck every time I need to find a dress to wear somewhere. I have a bunch of dresses in my closet, but none of them seem quite appropriate for either occasion. I have a budget of no more than $75 for either dress.
For my senior banquet, I'm looking for a semi-formal cocktail dress. I was looking at this one: http://www.victoriassecret.com/ss/Satellite?ProductID=1265437002221&c=Page&cid=1300104435945&pagename=vsdWrapper but I haven't had good experiences buying clothing from VS, so I'm hesitant to go for it.
I have no idea what kind of dress to for with for my graduation. I'll be getting my Doctorate in Pharmacy, so I want something nice, but something that I'll be comfortable in going out with my family afterward. I was looking at this one: http://www.zappos.com/product/7595777/color/261606 I feel like I could dress it up with some nice shoes and a cardigan. REI also has it in black.
If anyone has suggestions for good stores for dresses, or any feedback on these ones, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!!

I like the first one!

Between Forever 21, Zara and H&M I always, always, find a dress for whatever event I'm looking for! You should definitely check them out, Forever 21 and H&M are usually very reasonably priced or downright cheap and Zara can always have some surprisingly well priced items (and some very overpriced ones as well.)
Good luck!0 -
How about Dress Barn or sometimes Macy's has some good sales? I would go with something black or white. White is traditional fro graduations, but I know a lot of people do black and that always looks clean and nice.0

You could also try your luck at Marshalls and TJ Maxx! They often have great dresses at low prices.0

Have you thought about Target? http://www.target.com/Parties-Weddings-Dresses-Clothing-Womens/b/144457011/ref=sc_fe_l_5_256138011_10?node=144457011 Since they are partnering with all these designers they sometimes have some really cute (and surprisingly well made) dresses that don't break the bank. Also, I love places like Marshall's, T.J. Maxx or Burlington Coat Factory for current and brand name items at discount prices. Good luck and congratulations on all your hard work!!0

I agree with skinnyjeans. I'd also check out Ross (if you have one in your area). A lot of their clothes are crap but I have found some amazing dresses there for around $15. If you don't mind shopping online, I've had lots of luck shopping on amazon.com. I found a dress on there for like $50 that I used as my bridesmaid's dresses and they fit everyone really well. One of my bridesmaid's just gave birth a few months before my wedding so she had to return her dress for a different size and they were pretty hassle free. Also, if you need help styling it or want some more inspiration, check out polyvore.com. It's a great website where you can create an entire look (like you're the stylist for a magazine). You can also ask people to create a look for you and you'll probably get around 10-20 responses in around 2 days.0

i really like the vs dress!! i also like shabby apple for dresses. they have reviews so you can see what customers say. I also shop the Loft and they sometimes have beautiful dresses and lots of great sales! also if you can catch jcrew or banana republic on a good sale day, they can be great. I also love asos.com! They have amazing skirts, although I've never shopped their dresses. Good luck!0

White House Black Market - gorgeous dresses and the sales will put some of the dresses within your budget. They complement all body shapes.0

Thanks everyone! I forgot that there are places for inexpensive dresses
I love these two as options for my banquet:

Still coming up with nothing for graduation day. Grrr.0 -
So I'm gonna go with this one for graduation: http://www.zappos.com/product/7595777/color/261606, assuming it looks as nice in person. My mom okayed it, and she's a pro at fashion appropriateness for events.0
