Hi All!
I don't usually publish my health issues with others, but would really like to know if anyone else has had this happen to them. I was towards the end of my workout yesterday, doing strength training at a moderate intensity (squats, leg press) when I suddenly felt my pulse racing. I looked down at my heart rate monitor and it read 225! It stayed like that for 30 seconds, dropped to 180 and them fell to 110! I was pretty freaked out. I am pretty healthy, work out 4x a week and have healthy blood pressure and resting heart rate. No other medical conditions what so ever.
Looking back at the last few months my monitor has had similar readings of 225 at least 3 other times, I just thought my monitor was a little hinky.

Mine has never done anything like that with any type of strength training. Cardio, yes, I can get anaerobic, but I can't remember a time where it just stated racing and then dropped. Did you have any more caffeine than normal? Did you feel light-headed? If you did feel dizzy, may want to mention it to your doc. Better to be safe.0

I would call the doctor...you dont want to mess with your heart and BP. Did you feel sick to your stomach? Like time2wrk, I have had that happen during cardio, but not strength training.0

thanks for the feedback guys, I didn't have any symptoms except for racing heart. I am headed to the doc in an hour for an EKG, hopefully with good results.0

Please give us an update when you find out what is going on...0

thanks for your concern, the EKG was normal. The doc has set me up for an echocardiograph? on thursday, to check out heart anatomy/structure, and I will have to wear a 30 day heart monitor so that we can catch the event when it happens. Don't know how well that will work, considering that I cant wait to take off that darn chest strap just after 1 hour of exercise. Hopefully it will be a lot more comfortable than what I am imagining.0

Boy, I hope since you are going thru all this that it doesn't turn out it was just a faulty heart monitor! Maybe you were just fighting a virus or something. At leas the EKG was normal. Good luck on your test, hope it's not too uncomfortable!0

I have had them, my husband had them and my son had to go to the hospital because of them. Mostly they are induced by stress, worry or angciety(sp). For me they come and go and if I get one I just look at my life and see where I am going overboard, then find a way to relax ( meditation, praying, time for a good book....). It just depends how much stress is in my life, sometimes I won't have them for years and then something comes up and I will have 3 in a month.
My husband also had them when he was sick with lime desease and my son gets them when he is stressed out.
I am glad youre getting it checked out but maybe reflect and see if you are stressed or have to much on your plate right now? Even too much fun can stress us out, so take care and God bless0
