Hi, I'm Angie. I'm 35 years old, mother of 4 kiddos, and still trying to lose weight from the oldest one who is 17 and graduating high school in two months. I started at 267 pounds back in January of 2008 on Weight Watchers and lost 40 pounds. Then got pregnant with baby #4. I started back at approx 240 in August 2010. I went back to WW but it just wasn't working for me. Then they went to their new program and it just wasn't the same for me.
I also went to one of those diet clinics in July last year to help "jump start" my weight loss. It did help for a couple of months, but I then decided that I needed to do something that was going to work for life. I had to have surgery last November and since that time I've been playing with 7 pounds. I've been between 220 and 215 for months now. So, I found MFP and have it loaded on my phone.
We just joined a gym this week and a trainer has put me on a high protein diet, reducing my carbs to see if that helps. We've hit the gym 5 days last week. I lost 2 pounds. Do these results sound typical? He said he expected me to average 20 pounds a month if I was really strict on the diet. Also, MFP has my calories calculated at 1200 and as I'm doing some research I'm just wondering if I'm getting enough calories.

I would argue that slow & steady wins the race...20lbs per month sounds a bit too fast & unhealthy to me...
Good luck with whatever you decide to do and 2lbs in a week is fantastic!!!:flowerforyou:0 -
Yeah I would agree that 20 lbs/month is A LOT! A lot of people are on 1200 calories/day. Remember that doesn't include calories your burn with exercise. So exercising will allow you to eat more.0
