I am new this site and have a question for those of you that have had successful weight loss. Am I supposed to eat the recommended calorie, fat, protein, carb count that is shown? I try to do my best but I am unable to zero out each category EQUALLY. For example, if I eat all of my calories, I'll have carbs and fat that I am still supposed to eat but will show that I am negative in protein? I can't eat any more, because then my calories will go into the negative as well.

How am I supposed to read this?

If you're eating a balanced diet of whole foods, trying to get carbs and protein at each meal, and having clean fat sources like nuts and fish during your week, you're probably okay. And over time you'll probably get better at balancing the categories. In order to lose weight you want to be sure you're within your calories. Going over on protein is fine, especially since MFP estimates the protein a little low if you're doing any weight training. Eat healthy foods and keep within your calories and this will work! Welcome to the site!

Thank you PedalHound. I am sure that it was a silly question....but I didn't see anything explaining it on the home page and wanted to make sure that I am doing this correctly.

    Thanks, again.
