I know everyone is different, but what is an appropriate amount of daily sugar intake? I find that I go over my sugar so frequently, without going over my fat, carbs or calories, or anything else on most days. Some of it is just plain ol' chocolate, but that isn't the cause every day. I try to stay away from a lot of starches/sugars at the end of the day, but other than that, I don't worry about my sugars at this point. Just curious about whether I'm sabotaging myself by not doing so.
BTW, do NOT use today's diary as an example of my daily sugar intake. I just came back from vacation and I'm trying to ease back into my routine. Had to have some sneaks of chocolate!

My sugar intake is set at 33 grams.
Try not to have a lot of sugar added stuff or refined sugar. Anytime I can have something with no sugar added I do.
Also your sugar count comes from a variety of things, fruit, carbs and of course added sugar. It's really hard to give you advice on your diet because your diary isn't consistent. Therefore I can't make a good guess on what your eating habits are.0 -
Well, like you said, everyone is different. Could you be eating too much sugar? Possibly. But maybe not. I told my doctor about myfitnesspal, and he told me that since I'm pre-diabetic, it's probably best I eat as little sugar as possible anyway, however, he did also say that 33g (which is my daily goal) is pretty low. A healthy amount, but very hard to achieve realistically. If you're going WAYYYYY over that's one thing, but if you keep going over by small tiny amounts, don't worry. Also, take into consideration that myfitnesspal includes sugar from fruits and vegetables and other healthy sugars into your daily sugar count. My doctors always tell me that sugars from fruits and vegetables, especially vegetables, really don't count. If you went over your sugar, don't deny yourself that carrot stick. You know? Subtract it mentally from your sugar count lol. He explained to me that it's different, it's not processed sugar and it doesn't affect your body the same way. The best way to tell if you're eating too much sugar; ask your doctor. If you're concerned they can do a blood work up, or you can wait until your yearly check up. If diabetes does not run in your family and your blood sugar and insulin levels come back okay, you probably don't have to worry too much. It's always good to be careful but you don't have to go crazy over it either if you're in good health. Do your best!0

I am pretty consistently over in my sugar count. However, I try to make sure that I limit my refined sugars, and the majority of my carbs are from whole grains. What I can't do is limit my fruit sugars. I have given up so much else, I am not going to cut fruit.0
