and I'm sure the answer will be different for everyone. Does anyone follow a certain diet(s) while doign MFP or do you eat what you want and just log it in?
I'm just starting this program and am trying to make healthier changes to my diet and exercise, but like the idea of having some "room" in my diet and not killing myself completely. What intrigued me about this program was that is seemed easy enough to just log food and exercise in and keep track of it that way. But I was wondering if anyone uses any certain types of diets...e.g. low-carb, low-fat, stuff like that while using MFP? I would hate to use the program and it not work because I didn't adhere, so to speak. (If that makes any sense).
Anyways, just wanted to know other people outlook/experience on the MFP program :)

I follow the MFP recommendations as my way of eating. I try to get extra protein since I lift weights and I've upped my fiber but other than that I stick to my calories and that's it.

I follow a clean eating plan, one that cycles my carb & protein intake according to my workout intensity for that particular day..so I don't follow MFP recommendations but I agree its a great way to keep track.
  • It became a sensibility issue for me! I am a life long vegetarian and had started to gain weight (30lbs exactly) in a short period of time. I realized i was just eating too much junk (chips, chocolate, ALCOHOL!!) and eating out of bordom. So when I started MFP my food choices rearranged into my calorie count. I was making choices to eat this or that based on the calorie/fat/sodium content. THAT was the biggest shocker for me, the sodium. Now I eat sensible portions of really great foods (that taste great too!) and have started to move my body more! I just watch the sodium, fat and calories mainly. This site is wonderful when it comes to customizing your ideas and choices of what/how much of different things to track. Good luck, I know some people who do a low carb no problem!
