Had my Thyroid Removed and wondering if...

Hi,
I had my Thyroid completely removed Nov 12, 2010. Gained 30+ pounds in a very short time. In mid February I finally got my synthroid adjusted to the correct level and was finally feeling great. I started eating differently to shed all the extra pounds I picked up and was doing great. I lost 20 lbs in 1 month. Now I have hit a plateau, but I knew that would happen. Now I am feeling irritated and just not quite right again (the way I felt before getting synthroid corrected) I'm wondering if now that I weigh less I need my dose lowered again? Has anyone else experienced this and do you have any advice? I am seeing my Endo on Thursday. Any experiences would be great.

You actually might need an increase if you are feeling tired. I had half of my thyroid out last June and started on a low dose, which was fine for a while but my last blood work showed I needed an increase. I've heard it takes a while to get your dosage set and even then it may change over the years. Tell your Dr. how you are feeling and make sure they follow up with a blood test unless you recently had one. Great job losing those 20lbs! Surgery and the after effects is a tough thing to deal with and the weight gain makes it even worse. You're doing great!0

Thank you! I have blood tests the same day as my appointment. I thought the same about the tired part, but apparently it can have the same affect when it is too high. I was feeling super moody and irritable and my eye was twitching! I was on 150 mcg and thought I needed more, but it turned out I was getting too much and was lowered to 137 mcg. I was feeling great. Now, I'm feeling the same way as before. I'll post what the Dr says;)0
