Has anyone made the artisan bread in five? I'm wondering if it's easy as it sounds and also if there are healthy varieties. So if there are any bread bakers out there, I would appreciate your opinions or recipes. Thanks

  • I have made it. It's been a while and I've been thinking about it again. It is fast, but it takes up a lot of room in the fridge to keep the dough. Well, at least mine did. I think it made a nice loaf. I used a baking stone, but I think it was just as nice in a pan, and it is nice to keep on hand. Hmm, I guess you talked me into it! I'm going to start another batch.
I, too wondered if there was a whole wheat version and they did come out with a book that used whole grains with their method. I got my recipe online from an article at the Mother Earth website, and I was hoping they would have the new book at the library. I haven't looked for it for awhile so they might now.
You should try it, I think you'll enjoy it.

Yes, I have used both books, healthy bread in 5 and artisan bread in 5. Great recipes and yes they really work. I make a fabulous buttermilk sandwich bread and a terrific boule with whole wheat. Get a pizza stone. You really need it. I highly recommend making your own bread.
