Yesterday my husband had an appointment with his Dr., my husbands cholesterol was slightly elevated with what we believe can be controled with diet. Now my husband is convinced that he should eat the same thing everyday. (One of his friends did this with great success) I say it isn't healthy. Mainly his Dr wants him to stay away from processed food. His liver is way out of whack and now it just seems like we are fight over what to eat and what not to eat. I find it really hard not to eat the same thing the person next to me is eating. I understand as he has told me that this is my problem not his. I started to the store and I just have no idea. I searched the internet for 1200 calories diet without a lot of success so any imput would be helpful.

Hi
I suffer from High Cholesterol and have done so for many years, it is heredetary and all my family have suffered too.
I must say that your husband is wrong in saying he should just eat the same thing all the time, not only could this be unhealthy but he will soon get bored with his 'diet'.
I have brought down my cholesterol using MFP and the calorie counter, I have also reduced my Diabetic medication and I would suggest that your husband eats similar foods to yourself, keeping a check on the cholesterol and calories........I simply steer clear of Red Meats (maybe once a week if I crave any) and high cholesterol spreads and products, like Eggs, Butter and Cream.
Fresh Veg, Chicken, Fish and Fresh Fruit and you cannot go far wrong, maybe eating the same thing every day will work but the boredom would be unbearable, as your husband needs a healthy eating PLAN and not a diet.

You are absolutely right. That being said this is your husbands issue and it's silly to argue with him about it. He is a man and wants to solve the problem. For him that means a very tightly defined menu. KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) You need to find ways in which to be supportive. For example many people are perfectly happy eating the same thing for breakfast and lunch every weekday. Maybe that is a compromise position that will work for the two of you. He seems to want a lot of structure and maybe a bowl of Oatmeal for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for lunch along with fruit and veggies will work. Then you two can get creative with low fat, dinner entrees and dessert a couple of times a week.
Basically, find ways to agree with him while you slowly make changes in the interest of his health.0
