I wanted to be able to use a heart rate monitor to get a better reading for my workouts, so I shelled out big bucks for a quality Polar FT7, however, no one told me that I would have to buy the "communication" base thing in order to see my workouts! Why should I have to buy another item to be able to fully use a very expensive product that I bought in the first place!?

I use a Polar FT7 and I'd love to help you figure out your problem. I paid $85 for mine and it came with all the needed items. Can you tell me what pieces you have? I am not sure what communication base you are talking about, maybe the little snap that goes onto the chest strap? If you don't have all 3 pieces (watch, chest strap, little snap thing) I hope you are able to return it. This product should come with all 3 pieces.

I have the FT40 and can see my workout history, calories burned, time spent in fat vs fitness zones, etc... for like a gazillion of my past workouts in the data history tab... does yours not have that on the watch? I'm sure it does... checked the instruction manual?

I love mine. It was approx 100 dollars 2 years ago and all the data I need is right on the watch. The directions indicate exactly how it works.

If you dont like it, return it for a more expensive one that you can move the data with..

Sorry you dont like your polar:ohwell:

Exactly what this poster said. I have the FT7 and I love it! From what little I have read the communication base is only for uploading your info online? And you don't need that.

My polar ft7 works wonderfully- it shows all the data and everything. If you want to download it into your computer- then yes, you need to buy the base thing. Most other brands and models have add ons like this. Honestly- the polar hrm has been an amazing tool for my weightloss.

Wait, what? I have the FT7 and don't need any communication base. All the data is viewable right on the watch. Maybe you should give the manual a quick read...
  • I have the Polar FT7 and have no communication base and can look through and see every workout I did. You must have the wrong info.

I apologize, I wasn't clear. I'm a very detail-oriented person, so I bought the polar specifically because you can upload your workouts from the watch to the website to see the workout in detail (highs/lows, time, etc.). I didn't know that you need a base for the watch that communicate with your computer to upload the information. I guess I'll have to buy the base too. :explode:

I was going to say exactly this. Plus, OP, I hope you didn't get ripped off wherever you picked it up - you can get the FT7 for about $70.

I just got a FT4. I love mine. I got it at ****'s sporting goods for about $90. It came with all the necessary equipment. Did you get it online, from a reputable store? See if you can return it for all the equipment.

    Edit: Ha.. ha... it beeped out D i c k's.... :)

You should have rec'd 3 pieces. The chest strap, sensor (snap thingy on the chest strap), and the watch. If not, you need to call Polar cause your order had to have been mis-packed/mis-shipped.

It tells you everything you need to know on the watch display and then you just type it in on MFP. How exactly did they screw you over? Sounds like you need to get better acquainted with the features and read the manual.

No offense... but it doesn't sound like Polar effed you over... just sounds like you missed that part of the information in the description. If it wasn't listed on the website's information regarding the watch... contact customer service for return information and buy another model or brand that comes w/ all needed equipment.

I got mine from a store on ebay for about $80, but it came in the original sealed box. I received all three parts, I just didn't know that I needed a completely seperate part to upload it online. IMO this should be a feature that comes with it, not as a seperate purchase.

Ok, I don't have this website data you have mentioned, but my watch does tell me some of the details you have listed here. I will scroll thru my workout data from today and let you know exactly what it says (with no fees, just the 3 pieces from the box).

    Data:
    Training files:
    5th of April, 2011
    Duration: 00:30:00
    Calories: 309 Cal
    Fat Burn: 00:00:31
    Fitness: 00:29:29
    Average:  162
    Maximum:  184

There is also a week summary I can view, telling me:
    Total duration for week
    Total sessions for week
    total calories / week

While it doesn't show my lows, it does show the high and the duration of each workout. Is there more info than this that you are really wanting to look at?

Communication base is ONLY for downloading the workout data into your pc or online at polarusa.whatever. This piece is not needed for normal operation. I just bought mine last weekend for $85 monies and have used it three times this week. All of those workouts are stored in the wrist watch for me to go back and look at later. I have also found it communicates with any cardio equipment I use at the gym so that I'm not constantly having to hold onto to hand grip thingies when in the weight loss programs. I did a lot of asking around and research before I made my purchase, and this model got rave reviews from everyone using it. After purchasing and using it, I have to agree. This thing ROCKS!!! If you have any further questions, please feel free to friend or contact me and I'll do my best to help you out with it.

Sorry. Just saw your most recent update that the download was the purpose for your purchase. That being the case, my last post is irrelevant.
