I'm sure it happens all over, but you hear about people in sports that are pushed to far or push themselves too much and they end up dying... It may be because of our poor diets and lack of excersize then the sudden change into a super active person... Is there anything special I should do before going from no excersize to sudden change of eating habbits/excersize that won't compromise my body?

The safest way is the 10% a week rule. When you first start a new activity find a good pace that makes you push yourself, but not strain yourself. Pick a time, weight or distance and then don't increase intensity more than 10% per week in any single activity.
Vary your workouts and alternate muscle groups and you'll do great!
