i've taken them all. I got bored w/ kickboxing a few years ago. I do zumba and body pump regularly and once in a while, back to back. Don't be shame to go Zumba, lots of new ppl go every week. Body pump doesn't burn as much calories as the other two, since its a muscle building class. As far as the effectiveness, a lot of it depends on your instructor... try em out and decide :D

    Hi Jessie,

I go to Gold's Gym and I LOVE the classes. Yes, they definitely work. I was really nervous when I first started because I've never been a public exerciser, and I have bad memories of aerobics classes from when I was a teen, but I made myself go, and I'm hooked. I really like the body pump class because you don't have to be particularly coordinated, and yoga, because I need to stretch. I went to a step class for awhile, but it hurt my knees, and I'm in a running class (somewhere else) so I decided to drop step and stick with running. I tried a kickboxing-like class a few times, and it was an intense workout. They changed the time so I don't go anymore, but it was fun. I recommend picking the classes you're most interested in and trying them a few times (enough so you're comfortable with the moves) and evaluate if you like them or not. It's important to go a few times, because the first few times you usually feel awkward, but as you learn the moves, and it feels more natural, then you can start to enjoy it. The first step class I went to I fell off the step (twice!) and felt like the biggest freak, I was so embarrassed but someone came up to me afterwards and said the same thing happened to her, so I went back. I got better every week, and then I saw new people come in and trip over themselves or get confused about the moves and I realized everyone is clumsy at first, even people who look like they would be super-athletes. If you stick with it, you get good. And the teachers get paid to make you sweat your butt off, so I've found I push myself much harder in classes than I ever would on my own. Have fun!
