Looking to participate this year in the 3 day for a Cure in Washington DC. 60 miles in 3 days. I think I can do that. Been training for a marathon since Jan 8th so I do have some mileage under my belt. Was curious if anyone has done this before? ANd if so, if you have any tips to offer? I just want to be as prepared as possible.

Thanks!

I did it a few years ago. It's in September this year right? Mine was early October. It was freezing at night, so be sure to pack warm and be able to put on layers at night. Also, be sure to carry a really good blister kit in your sack so you can fix yourself up at the stops. On your training walks, pay attention to where you get hotspots and try to tape them up in the mornings to avoid blisters at all.

Otherwise, my biggest suggestion would be to be sure to walk around and talk with other people while you walk. Sticking with your own group is great, and you become very close with them, but there are a lot of wonderful stories and people to meet if you branch out a bit too.

Enjoy! It's a great cause and they take good care of you there!

It's Sept 23-25. I'm really excited about it! Just don't want to forget something "stupid" that would ruin the experience. lol Thanks for the suggestion. I remember someone else told me the same thing about the evenings being pretty cold. Making a mental note. What were the days like?

the days were fine. I even got sunburnt a little. Warm sometimes. Cooler breezes sometimes. Nice in the shade. You won't have trouble in the days. I wore shorts and tank tops.

The BEST thing about doing the walk is that you get to eat whatever you want (basically) at all the stops. They were really big on the uncrustables (peanut butter and jelly sandwich thingies) when I did it and I ate my face off with those. And the spaghetti dinners they make at night. Just great!

Be sure to drink tons of fluids, obviously, during the day.
