Hi-

Planning on starting the P90 X program from Monday.
How do you log the activities in MFP?

  • I wear an HRM to track calories burned (have tried to find similar workouts on MFP, and they are FAR off my actual burn).

Haven't invested in a HRM yet. Maybe I should look into it...thanks!

Get a HRM. Using any other sources is just guessing and could be off by quite a bit.
  • FWIW, I have a POlar FT4 and love it. Got it for around $70 on amazon. Super easy to set up and seems pretty accurate. Has a chest strap that is machine washable.

Go under "My exercises" and enter your own exercise name and caloric burn estimate. Tony said in one of the videos that he estimates about 500 calories (chest and back?). Of course yoga and shoulders and arms will be less. He does recommend a HR monitor but, for now I just look in the database of exercises and make an estimate for some sort of accountability (based on my rate of perceived excertion). You don't have to be overly specific to get the benefits from this website. For me, it is mainly the food journal and documenting some sort of exercise estimate that keeps me going!! Good luck!
  • Since I do not have a HRM I created my own exercise for each workout & took the calories from something in the database like strength training, or calesthentics.
