I keep mine private because I still struggle with not eating lots of empty calories & when I had it public I received a lot of rude comments & stuff about it. I know it's a problem. I really struggle with finding healthy foods that fill me up & staying within my calories. Anyone have a really good food diary that could help give me ideas?! I could use the help! Feel free to add me if it's friends only or even if it's not. I really appreciate it!

I'm not sure how "helpful" my food diary would be, but you're more than welcome to add me as a friend and check it out!

Let me start off by saying, you look great!

Knocking out the empty calories can be pretty rough at first. We all have things we crave and our favorite junk foods. I'm eating low carb right now but on my very occasional cheat day I end up eating cinnamon Hot Tamales in front of the computer or TV because I miss them. :)

Try to find fruits or veggies that you like to snack on, instead of the empty calories. I know you've probably heard it over and over, but they really are the best thing; they are low in calories and high in fiber and they are definitely not empty. If you look at your diary and aren't hitting 5 servings a day, that's the easiest place to make a change. Carrots, celery, cucumbers, sugar snap peas and berries are my favorites because they are either crunchy or just plain easy to eat.

Almonds are another good choice. (I just finished a one ounce serving of Emerald's Cocoa Roast Almonds, in fact!) You can't eat as many of them, because they are higher in fat and calories, but they also have lots of fiber. There are lots of flavored ones out there, so you won't get bored, either.

You're welcome to friend me and look at my diary, but keep in mind that I'm keeping the carbs very low. The plus side is that I'm hardly ever hungry and I usually have to eat something late in the day to get close to my calorie goal of 1300.

    Good luck!

Firstly WOW! Those progress pics are very impressive, well done, what a huge achievement. I'm sad that you received negative comments about your food choices in the past. People should all remember that we are in different places in our weight loss/lifestyle change journeys.

I am by no means 'there' yet when it comes to totally clean eating but I have been focusing on getting more fruit and veg and eating more protein so you are more than welcome to have a look at my food diary - it's open

Wow! "Friends" that leave rude comments about what you eat should be deleted. We are here to support each other. Lord knows I struggle with staying within my calories, especially being a stay at home mom. I would say getting your lean protein and green leafy veggies in as much as possible & drinkling plenty of water, is key. It looks like you're doing well with your weight loss. Keep up the great work!

You can add me, not saying Im perfect or even close, but I do keep my diary open. Good, bad or otherwise, I log everything. I recently decided that I needed to handle it better and bump up my F/V intake, so that is what I focus on now. Only 1 meal a day where nothing is off limits, but I have a calorie cap of 500-600. The rest of the day its protien shakes and Fruits/vegetables until I incorporate them better into my diet. Good luck and it looks like you are well on your way!

Great progress so far! You look great! Mine is public if you'd like to look! I'm dairy free but other than that no other restrictions!

Mine isnt perfect either. I am usually under my Calorie goal. But I'm not super healthy either. I eat salads and sandwiches, fruits and veggies, but I do still eat pasta and deserts. I plan for them too. I love alfredo! but, I buy the light sauce that only has 60 calories and I add lots of veggies to the pasta so I eat some pasta, but more veggies.

People are rude....and sometimes there is not much you can do about it. As long as you are happy and healthy forget what they say! You have lost weight and you look Amazing!!! Do what works for you!

My diary is public, so feel free to add me! I have mine public so I can keep myself accountable. :)

I keep my diary public. It helps me make better choices knowing others will see it. I'm a big cheerleader and would hate to eat a bunch of UNPLANNED junk. That said, I don't tolerate critical comments nor do I give them. There are 1-2 friends who can criticize my diary and I respect them enough to listen because of their results. Otherwise, I know I ate that 1,000 cal dinner and don't need to be lectured.

A month ago I started a thread on this and it got so heated that they had to shut it down. A bunch of "civil rights lawyers" commented about personal choice and intrusion - it sounded like a pro-choice rally. It's a sketchy topic and that thread taught me how sensitive it is to people.

Wow I am shocked to hear this I can't believe people would have the audacity to sent you comments about something You ate like it effects them! First off you look great so you must be doing something right! Your welcome to check out my diary which is a longgggg way from perfect but as long as I stay under my nutritional goals I figure I'm doing better then I had been in the past!

Mine is public. While far from perfect, you may get some ideas from it. And you look great, by the way!
  • I feel like on good days, my food diary is pretty healthy. I am vegetarian though, so you might want to replace some of the things I have in mine with lean chicken breast or something along those lines..

You're welcome to look at my food diary - I generally eat pretty good meals though some of my snacks aren't the healthiest - but I keep those to small portions and it seems to be working for me.
If you have any "friends" who are making rude comments about your diary, I would just delete them without any discussion, they clearly are not a friend!

Thank u! And thank u everyone! People are so nice on here! :) ... Well most people haha! Yes I've been trying to eat lots of veggies & fruits. It's just hard for me because the only grocery store within 10 miles is Walmart & their produce is crap. And I don't have a car. I think I'm gonna have to get frozen & try to make it work or something :/ Thanks for all the great ideas!

Walmart's produce can be pretty horrible, especially when you live out in the middle of the desert, like I do. Frozen veggies are often better than fresh, actually, so that's a really good choice. After "fresh" veggies make it to the store, sit in the bin, then sit in your fridge, they've lost a lot of nutrients. Frozen veggies are usually frozen within a few hours after picked.
