Hi. I have a dumb question but want to make sure I am getting this right. On the box of 'Hungry Jack whole wheat pancakes, it says its 150 calories for 3-4 in pancakes. Is that THREE four inch pancakes, or 3-4 inch pancake? I am confused and want to make sure I am tallying the right amount of calories. Thanks!!

According to the livestrong.com site, that means THREE pancakes that are four inches each.

3 pancakes of 4 inches each.

But when I make them I determine it based on how many pancakes I made out of the batter, I think it's more accurate that way.

Thank you! I thought three pancakes would be more calories than 150. So woo hoo!!!

My problem with the pancakes after looking at the nutritional information from the Hungry Jack site, is that their Wheat Blends pancakes don't actually contain any WHOLE wheat..............the ingredient list starts this way: ENRICHED BLEACHED FLOUR (WHEAT FLOUR, MALTED BARLEY FLOUR, NIACIN, That's not the same as whole wheat.

Make that breakfast favorite just a little bit healthier. Still not exactly healthy, but an improvement. Mix in some berries to add a little something more. You can use other fruits as a topping, with whipped cream or syrup if you need that sweet taste.

    1 cup whole wheat flour
    1 tablespoon common granulated sugar
    2 teaspoons baking powder
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 egg
    1 cup milk
    2 tablespoons oil
    additional oil for frying

Oil a frying pan. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in one bowl. In another bowl, scramble the egg, then add the milk and the 2 tablespoons of oil. Mix the dry and wet ingredients together, well enough to eliminate dry spots but no more.

Heat the frying pan to medium temperature. Pour a pancake. The pancake will bubble. When the bubbling settles down and the edges are slightly dry, flip the pancake. When the pancake looks done, remove it and start another one.
  • Really -- that low in calories ?

    I'm eating pancakes tomorrow !

This is the base recipe I use, my favorite mix in is (2) banana! It brings it to 180 for 2 pancakes, but so yummy and still not bad (that's making 12 pancakes with that batter). Another favorite is 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup oatmeal put through the processor (in place of the 1 cup flour) and some cinnamon and nutmeg. That last one is delicious with cinnamon applesauce in place of syrup.
