MFP OCD

Don't get me wrong, MFP is a great site and is helping me loads. But there's one, tiny thing that annoys me about it...

You see, I have a weird, OCD thing about my weightloss. I don't like saying "I've lost xxx lbs" until I've ACTUALLY lost that number.

Last week, I had lost 10.8lbs. That's TEN pounds in my head, not "nearly 11". But when MFP puts it on my homepage, it says "11lbs". I've been looking at it all week, getting slightly riled up by it. Wanting to shout "NO I HAVEN'T!!!".

So this week, I've lost 0.6lbs, taking me over the 11lbs barrier. Now, in my head, I can be proud of losing 11lbs. But according to my ticker on MFP, things haven't changed since last week - it's still 11lbs.

Does anyone else suffer from this or is it just me...

Haha I know what you mean. I've lost 6.3 kilos, but my ticker says it's only 6

It's just rounding it up. I don't mind what it says, I have lost the weight and am excited about it. I know in my head what I have lost and what it rounds up to means nothing, I don't really take much notice. But I understand where you are coming from. I log onto MFP alllllllll the time!!!!! Thats what I am more OCD about haha:laugh:

It's MFP not being able to take exact numbers into converted posts. Even when entering food portions, it will round up. For example, if it's 5 calories for 1 tsp of hot sauce, and you input 0.5 tsp, it will round up the calorie count to 3 instead of 2.5. I'm not bothered by the numbers, I'm just giving an example of why even weight will be rounded up. So, if you lost 10.4 pounds, it will actually keep the ticker at 10. It follows the "if # is equal to or greater than .5, then round up" rule.

    No, Monica, it's just you.

Just kidding. It bugs me too. If MFP can't handle the half pound, it should just hold off until I've earned the full one! For a couple of days I was at 9.5, and it was prematurely showing the full 10, which would have been a bit of a milestone if it were true. Unfortunately, today I'm at 9. Yep, OCD. . . .

I was the same way. I thought the rounding thing was ok, but then I think about staying the same for 2 weeks is fun.

This actually REALLY bothers me in the nutritional values displayed. As an example when I'm logging a new food, I always doublecheck the values MFP has in the database (too many crap entries put in by people only tracking partial nutrition, or lying to themselves or whatever). Well, when I go to check the values against the reference source (manufacturers website, nutritional label, USDA site, whatever), I'll see for example 2g saturated fat displayed on MFP when the real value is 1.5g - then I say "no it's not correct" and go to edit it but the value actually stored and used is the correct 1.5g, it's just rounded up in the display. I think there are places rounding is okay and acceptable, but certainly not in situations where you're measuring in single gram quantities or less, like in the macro-nutrient values of foods. In my weight ticker - meh. Who cares, _I_ know the truth - but in determining whether a food is recorded correctly, I find it very annoying.
