Calories Burned ???

So I've started working out more and more and I've noticed that my calories burned have gone down even though I'm working out at the same intensity and the same time. I still have quite a bit of weight to lose so I'm confused by this.
I thought that my Calories burned wouldn't really go down until I'm closer to my goal weight. I try to get my heart rate around 165-170 while working out and I can get there while running but it's mostly in the 160's and I can't really get it any higher. Do I need to increase the speed at which I'm jogging on the treadmill? I feel like I'm going super fast as it is now (4.2 mph which to me, is fast as I'm just starting this running thing).
I've noticed my HRM is looser on me now, do I need to tighten it? Would that be effecting my HR?
Thanks for the help

Congrats you're becoming an athelete! Lol
I had to up my speeds. I'm running at 6.5mph and walking at 3.5. :flowerforyou:0 -
the smaller you get the harder you need to work to burn the same as before. The extra weight you are carrying at the start meant that your body had to work harder, so now that you are carrying less weight you will burn less calories to do what might feel like the same amount of work. to burn more calories now you will need to up the intensity or the length of your workout.
i think you could tighten it if its loose, but it would tell you if there was an error in picking up your heartbeat. Even if you move up to 4.3 mph it might make a difference. or, mix things up a bit, add a minute of going really fast then take it back down for 2, then go on an incline for a few minutes etc. keep your body guessing!
(im no expert, but these are things i consider all the time so hope that helps : )0 -
I would tighten your HRM... I had to tighten mine. I think it would make a bit of a difference but not that big.
I always keep mine tight so I make sure it gets my HR...
Your body is getting used to the running/jogging now. I would up it a bit.
I walk at like 4 mph and jog at 6 but I'm also 5'11".0 -
It means that you are becoming more fit than you were when you started. My calories burns have gone down too because it doesn't take as much energy to do the exercises as it did when I first started. The more you workout and the more in shape you get it's gonna be harder to get those high numbers. But on the bright side it shows you are geting that body in shape and on your way to being fit and healthy!! Try bumping your speed up in 30 sec-1min intervals to like 4.5-4.7 and that help up that calories burn and shock your body a little bit and increase your speed. Good luck and great job!!0
