Hi all,

Many of you know me, since i've been on this site forever.....lol But the reason i'm posting is, I want some tips, I am stuck at 175 pounds.........been stuck for months my body just doesn't want to let it go. I exercise, as in i'm a zumba instructor and teach about 4 classes a week, and I did put weights back into my workouts. Any suggestions?? I also am trying to keep to a low fat diet along with a low sodium. Any help would be greatly appreciated..........Thanks!!!

    Are you eating enough?

You should eat your calories from exersise back! on days i know i'm going to the gym, i log my exersie in the morning , then have bigger meals those days!

This is just a part of it! please read the link above

Generally someone with a BMI over 32 can do a 1000 calorie a day (2 lbs a week) deficit
With a BMI of 30 to 32 a deficit of 750 calories is generally correct (about 1.5 lbs a week)
With a BMI of 28 to 30 a deficit of 500 calories is about right (about 1 lb a week)
With a BMI of 26 to 28 a deficit of about 300 calories is perfect (about 1/2 lb a week)
and below 26... well this is where we get fuzzy. See now you're no longer talking about being overweight, so while it's still ok to have a small deficit, you really should shift your focus more towards muscle tone, and reducing fat. This means is EXTRA important to eat your exercise calories as your body needs to KNOW it's ok to burn fat stores, and the only way it will know is if you keep giving it the calories it needs to not enter the famine response (starvation mode)

    Change up your exercise routine?

If you're doing the same exercises every time your body gets used of it. Up your weights, or try doing a different workout all together on top of what you're doing.

Bodyrock.tv has awesome workouts that are free and she also has nutrition advice on top of that. The workouts are challenging, which helps make your body work harder since although you probably work up a sweat with Zumba it's accustomed to the moves you're doing.

Are you getting enough calories in so you can continue to burn? If you aren't your body is saying Whoa, gotta hang on to what I have. Eating good stuff, increase your calories about 300-400 more than you are getting right now. Do it for a week. Keep up on the exercise and see what happens.
This is advice from my dietician when I hit a plateau I could not break.
Also, see if your body has reached its comfotable body mass! It may not be the number you are looking for, however if you go too low for your bodies comfortable zone you will fight a losing battle against gaining and losing 2-5 pounds every week. This my doctor told me when I hit 139 for about 15 minutes. She said my body was good at 155 - that I would be able to maintain that without killing myself. Anything less was just going to be an effort in frustration. Just an FYI, I am 5 foot 3 inches.

    Hope that helps
