Recovery week still needed

I use a Polar Ft60 and two weeks ago, my weekly summary stated "Recovery week needed", but for the following week, it still gave me the same goals for calories to burn and minutes to work out. A recovery week, to me, means exercising less, or at a lower intensity. So..can anyone tell me how I'm meant to take a recovery week, but still work out for 4hrs45min and burn 2300 calories???
