I started following a strict calorie diet along with exercise last week. That first week I lost 10lbs...which I know was probably a lot of water weight. However, this week I reduced my calorie intake a little more and have added more workouts to my routine and I'm not losing weight. I started off losing a pound, then i gained some then i lost and now gained again. I'm stumped on why i'm gaining weight......any suggestion?

less calories + more exercice does not equal more weight loss.

    Please feed you body properly

Yanicka is right. You must feed your body in order for it to function. It's probably holding on to what it has for dear life, because it feels as if it's starving.

My mum is having this problem - she's been really down in the mouth, but I can see her body tightening up! She's been on a diet for 3 months and has been doing Rosemary Conley every day nearly.

I've suggested she sack the scales for a while and ignore weight loss for a while and I'd stay the same as well. There are a couple of things which you need to bear in mind - your body takes a while to process things, whether it's food or exercise. For example your body doesn't actually burn the food on the day you do the exercise, it burns it the day after. Plus, if you seriously only started last week it's not enough time.

Plus, if you put on muscle it's heavier than fat. Fluctuations are to be expected. I would take physical measurements of your waist as it's a useful measurement of success you're going to lose if you don't take them now.

Maybe I should reword my first statement....It's not strict in the sense i'm starving myself just strict in the sense i'm sticking to it and eating healthy...no more junk food, soda or greasy fast food. I still eat almost 1600 calories a day
