This is kind of a rant..
I feel like until I can afford a whole new wardrobe my weight loss is for nothing. NOTHING I own fits anymore, even form fitting shirts look stupid on me and even my tight sweatpants are frumpy. I caught a glimpse of my self in a window today and I looked ridicuoulous,it looks like I borrowed my coat from someone twice my size, and you can't even see the sihoutte of the but I've worked my but off for!
ERR,I can't wait to graduaute college in June and start working so I can go shopping, because I need to get rid of 90 % of what I own now for clothes.
I am actually going out right now in my smallest pair of sweatpants with the waistband tied and a shirt that is drawn in in the back with an elastic band.

well, on the one hand i'm sorry you have to deal with all that. but on the other hand. . .it's REALLY amazing that you've done so much and come so far to this point!

next time you can scratch together about ten bucks, take yourself to goodwill or salvation army and buy yourself ONE pair of pants that fit right. you'll feel a TON better, and won't break the bank. do it once a month if you have to, until you've got some better income.

ETA: that's what my mom did the year she lost a ton of weight. just bought herself one article of clothing at a time til she had some old credit cards paid off, then filled in the blanks.

lol, I kept the same belt from when I was 198 until I hit 171 and it drove my wife nuts, I did not get smaller jeans until I was 175, which drover her nuts because I was wearing clothes to big for me. My advice, used clothing stores, or watch clearance sales. I had punched about new holes into that old belt before I broke down and bought a new one, and now I have punched 1 new hole in it and close to a 2nd. Hey at least you can fit in with the rapper kids who wear their pants half ways down their butts lol.

Do you have a second-hand store near you to get you some new clothes until you can afford a new wardrobe? I am down 3 sizes now, and the second-hand store in our area is my new best friend. They aren't new clothes, but they are "new" to me. Just a suggestion.
  • wow I have this same problem..i went out and bought a few pairs of new jeans..which will be too big in a few months and ill be in the same situation...just think though..its a pretty nice problem to have!!

When I lost all my weight I had to wait until income tax time to get new clothes, I was wearing size 16's when I was truly an 8. I know how you feel. I HATED looking like a homeless person (no offense to homeless people) but if you can even spare $5 here $10 there to get a few items (hell Target has pants for $20, and a nice tshirt for $8)

I hear ya on this one. I have lost 154 pounds so far. My Mom has been very good to me and bought me a few things. Some of my clothes look ridiculous. The thrift stores are a great idea. I found some really cute jeans for just $5. Also try freecycle.org. Someone might have something in your size that they are willing to give away. :)

Ask around... While this site is populated by a good proportion of people who are losing weight, the world is full of people who are putting on weight and have a wardrobe full of clothes that are too tight for them, and who cannot afford new clothes. Someone like that might appreciate a few swaps!!!

There are plenty of ways to buy some new clothes, cheap, that fit and look nice! The Kohls in my area gives out $10 off coupons every few weeks, and that's how I survived this past fall. You didn't need to spend more than the $10, and I needed professional clothes for work, and that's pretty much how I built my whole wardrobe- I always bought from the clearance section and sometimes got two things for the free $10! There are also thrift stores and consignment shops were you can get things really cheap, and places like TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Ross so you can have a few new things but it doesn't cost you a whole lot. Even stores like Old Navy and Forever 21 you can find cheap clothes, especially if you check the sale/clearance section.

Ask your family and friends, too. I'm sure that some of them have clothes in your size that they don't wear or wouldn't mind giving away, or even letting you borrow!

Honestly, there are ways to do it without looking like a hobo, lol.

try getting together with some friends and pool together all the clothes you don't want/ don't fit and have a yard sale then take the cash you get from your clothes and buy some must have pieces until you scrounge up the cash for your dream wardrobe.
