How much should you drink for a recovery drink? The 1 cup serving or more? Is there a certain amount of carb/protein we are trying to put in our body after the workout?
Thanks.
Thanks.

4 to 1 ratio of Carbs to Protein0 -
I know the 4:1 carbs to protein. Is there a certain amount we want though? Like 32 carbs to 8 protein.0

The P90X Results and Recovery drink that I use is 39g to 10g.0 -
4:1 seems pretty carb heavy for me.
Considering my dailiy percentages are 40/40/20.
Mine would be closer to 2:1 because I keep my protein high and don't need 120 grams of carbs after lifting. But I consume 30 grams of protein afterwards.
And beachbody supplements aren't nearly as researched as most IMO.0 -
my drink is actually 3:1. 24:8 at 1 cup. I was wondering if I should drink 2 cups to be at 48:16.0

Carbs are what take the protein to the muscles for recovery, thus the high ratio.
And how would you know that Beachbody supplements are researched as much?0 -

I regard a company that makes fad workouts a little below real supplement companies.
I trust a company like Gaspari, or Optimum Nutrition more than Beachbody, because these companies were founded by bodybuilders and have sponsored athletes that compete in competitions.
The people in the beachbody videos didn't get those bodies from p90x and beachbody supps. Thats a guarantee. I can't think of a single bodybuilder that uses beachbody products or would stand behind them. They're good programs for overweight people, or people who have spent a couple years on the couch.
I DO agree with you that carbs are needed for muscle growth. And I'm not saying to not consume carbs after the workout. But I eat 250 grams of protein a day roughly. So when I take in 30 g of protein after a workout, I'm not gonna hit a 4:1 ratio. That would throw my daily macros off.0 -
That is all good and stuff but what about my question? :smokin:
Should I be taken in more carbs and proteins after a workout?0 -

It depends on your daily goals.
What are you macros....carbs/proten/fats. And how many total cals.
If you aren't eating a lot, then you might not wanna take in a ton.
But if you have room in your diet, you might consume 400 cals after a workout to help with recovery. Depends on what you're trying to achieve.0 -

That makes sense. Thanks.0 -

A) You can't make a guarantee, because you obviously don't know. I do know for a fact that people in the videos have gotten those bodies from P90X and Insanity. I know a lot of them personally.
I'd hardly call P90X a fad.
C) Beachbody invests just as much in research as any of the other companies that you mentioned.
D) I will agree with you on one thing these program are great for people who are overweight or have spent years on the couch. Mainly because they spell it all out for you.0
