My boys have a T-ball tournament coming up Saturday. I know I will take premeasured baggy of nuts for snack but WHAT can I eat for my lunch? All that is in the area is fast food (which is sodium LOL). No time to come home between games because first game is at 9AM and 2nd is at 1:30..ideas PLEASE!!

If I have to do fast food I usually reach for a small Wendy's chili or some pintos and cheese from taco bell ... cuts the hunger and ain't too bad ...

Tuna fish on wheat bread? Tuna is good for weight loss and you could go light on the mayo or find a substitute

Brown bag it. Make a wrap or a salad.

why don't you get some low sodium lunch meat and some fiber bread and make yourself a sandwich. You can also take some premeasured carrots and a 100 cal snack.
  • Can you take a cooler with some lower calorie wheat bread and sliced turkey? If you can, I would pack that in the cooler. You will have some protein to sustain you and the bread will help you feel full.

Oh! And a large coffee! lol ... the caffeine cuts the hunger and you'll be extra LOUD at the game cheering them on! lol ...

anything!! Just pack a lunch and put it in a lunch bag with one or two of those frozen things for lunch bags lol....you could do a sandwich or a peanut butter and banana wrap.....ive done salad. Anything that doesnt need to be really really cold. You could do some slices of cheese and crackers. Even if you had say left over stir fry you could do that and eat it cold and it would still be yummy!!!

I got your humor in it I actually did laugh when I read "me likes my salad wraps"..
  • Matt...totally got that you were being silly-funny. My Mom was an English teacher so trust me, I picked up on you playing around. : ) One word of caution on the lunch meat option.....buy the lower sodium ham or turkey. Sodium is the enemy!

Pack something...like everyone said before...or check the nutritional facts before you hit a fast food place. If your careful & know what to order ...you can eat something yummy and not do to bad : )

Good luck to your team : )

Nowadays even fast food joints have healthy choices menu's.

First... come up with a meal plan before you go... Those smells can be pretty tempting sometimes. Preplanning your meal can make it a healthy meal.

Second look at the healthy options.

    Salads instead of fries.
Water or Milk instead of pop
    Grilled instead of fried.
    Baked Potato instead of fries.

    Drop some toppings too...
    Cheese,
    Mayo,
    Bacon,

And don't forget to look for those hidden calories... quite often there are huge amounts of fat and sodium in places we wouldn't expect them... like salad dressings and croutons.

Finally have a snack before you go for lunch... it is easy to fall prey to fast food if you are already hungry or bordering on ravenous. If your appetite isn't consuming you, it will be easier to stick to a plan.
  • Make a taco salad, or tuna wrapped in romaine lettuce

Find a subway....or in a pinch...like wed nites after my daughters dance class when she is ravenishly hungry and I dont feel like cooking we do McDonalds...a hamburger and fruit and yogurt parfait minus the granola is 380 calories which isn't too bad.
