Hello everyone! I'm brand new!
I'm looking for some nutrition tips/food suggestions - in particular surrounding what to eat after a run or a workout. I never know what to eat! I want to "re-fuel" but not feel sick. I'm training for a 7km trail run at the moment (many miles away from this goal right now) and I'm a vegetarian. I like really bland food and need to step out of my routine.
Any thoughts would be appreciated :)

Chocolate Milk is a great recovery drink for runs/workouts. It has a great 4:1 (carb:protein) ratio which is currently the accepted ratio for recovery.

However, I do not know what kind of vegetarian you are... Assuming you are not vegan though. If you are, I've heard chocolate soy milk works too but not as good.

Good luck on your 7k! Trail running is hard and I did about a 7mi trail run a couple of months ago. Not very fun in my opinion =/'

If you have any questions don't hesitate to message me if you like.

I'm not a vegan, I have been a vegetarian for a few years (sort of, still ate fish until recently ...so a pescatarian I think is the name for that).
Thanks for the great tip, I'm pretty nervous about the run and I only have a month to train so it will be interesting!
  • Pre-run I am all about wheat toast with peanut butter and a banana an hour before. Post-run, I would have to agree that chocolate milk is the best!! If you aren't a milk drinker I would make a protein shake with soy milk and fresh or frozen fruits. Blueberries and strawberries are my favorite. I love Genisoy Soy Protein Powder. Good luck with your run!!
