My calories are currently set to 1200, but this last week i've upped the anti and started burning well over my calories (700 plus a day) but when i weighed in today i've put weight on :( I've been eating between 1200 and 1400 but do i need to be eating more of what i burn? Thanks

    You are going to low, it jacks up your metabolism. Setting got body to store or even gain fat. Eat your intake plus cals burned, the chances are you are burnin double that just living. Aka takes calories just for your body to function daily. Gorge starvation mode it will help u understand :)

    Check this out

    particularly the 4th link in the first post. Don't bother with the whole thread - only the first post & the links in it.

    This might be of interest too depending if your interested in just getting lean or in building too:

    yeah, you are in starvation mode so your body is storing all the calories it can. You need to eat your exercise calories and trust me, it will make your dieting much more enjoyable :)

    THAT WAS MY ? 2, I DID NOT EAT MY EXERCISE CALORIES, SO I HAVE TO MAKE SURE I EAT THOSE ALL THE TIME CORRECT?

    U need to make sure ur net calories r 1200 for females, and I think 1800 for males.. if ur net calories only say 500 at the end of the day, that boils down to "uve only eaten 500 calories today"...u don't have to always eat back ALL ur calories, but u at least want to make sure ur net number is 1200

    @annacataldo - not sure I entirely go with that 1200 v 1800. I am a avg to small built male & I go for the 1200 too.

    @FAMILY02184 - My take on it. Generally yes; but I'm not sure it's entirely black or white. There are too many variables involved. There is a lot of debate and a lot of different opinions. Generally though I think most support is for "yes" eat exercise cals back.

    This is my opinion based on my experience so far.

    I am of average (on the smaller side) height and build male so I ensure I always "net" at least 1200. My goal is 1lb/.5kg a week so I also make sure I am no more than 400 or so under the daily calculated goal. That is, the greater of 1200 for the day or 400 under daily goal. In other words if I workout and end up with a goal net one day of 1800 then I would ensure I net 1400 at least; if I didn't workout and it was 1500 I would ensure I net 1200. If you set your weekly loss goal higher be more careful since MFP already factors in a 1000 deficit.

    Andd I am open to change. If I stall more than 2-4 weeks then I will likely revisit and consider trying some changes.
