Daily calorie deficit or Zig Zag Calories?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me which is better and which one you have had better luck with? I like the idea of Zig Zagging the Calories but was just wondering how effective it has been for people.

I was zigzagging my calories and ended up gaining 2 lbs in the first week and eventually lost that in the second week and only lost 1 lb in the third week. I went back to a daily calorie deficit and lost 5.2 lbs in 2 weeks. I would recommend the daily calorie deficit.0

Try more excersise instead of zig zagging, more excersise allows you to eat more!0

Thanks for your input guys. I am set at 1500 cals a day now for 1 lb loss a week. I normally am around 300 under with no exercise so I was just wondering which would be better. On the days I exercise I try to get closer to the 1500 so that I don't go under 1200 cals for the day.0
