Maybe a stupid question...but for someone who is doing swimming as most of their activity, are there waterproof/resistant HRM's that can be worn to measure accurately the burn from doing laps?
I've heard everyone talking about HRM's with chest straps and whatnot can they be worn while swimming?

Yeah my Polar Ft7 is waterproof can be worn in the pool, most of the Polar F6/F7 - Ft6/7 line is waterproof.
I have worn it during water aerobics and swimming laps/0 -
I've never tried it myself but my understanding is yes they can be worn while swimming. However there might be a problem occasionally with the signal transferring between the chest strap and the watch due to the water. Check out this website at Polar for a better explanation:
