Hiya. :) My name is Adrianne and I am obese, fat, whatever you want to call it. Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm relatively new to the site, but the support I've seen here in reading some of these posts already help me to know that this could be one of the main elements that helps me not to fall off the wagon.

I, like many others, have tried and failed time and time again to lose weight. But as of March 26, 2011 that all changed. I've joined a gym and with MFP I am waaay more conscious of what 'm putting in my mouth. So far, I've lost and good 10 pounds! (Yay Me!)

Most importantly I want to be healthy. My family has a history of all kinds of diseases that are contributed to by obesity. Most recently, my grandma died of cervical cancer brought on by poor diet and other factors. And almost all the women in my family have diabetes and/or thyroid issues. Not me. So far I have a clean bill of heath (other than the weight ;) and I plan on staying that way!

So here's a cheers for the pounds lost and a great big holla for the ones to shed!!

congrats! I feel you on the family history. I've got some many obese family members- I'm still young and active enough to avoid that future, like you! It is quite amazing how MFP changes your view on food- I strongly feel it's the reason I've been able to do this for over a month now (I usually poop out WAY sooner, getting disappointed by a low rate of loss or none at all).
