I need a gps running app that doesn't need any internet to function. I've been keeping track by counting how many times I go around the track, but lately I've been forget haha. Any apps that have a gps and don't need internet to work? My ipod doesnt hooking up to my gym's internet. Always says error. Thanks!

It's basically the only reason I want one. I can do without mobile internet and all that, I just want RunKeeper!

I have an IPod Touch and RunKeeper. However, the touch does not have GPS capabilities so it only works in areas I can pick up WiFi.

What do you mean only iPhones have GPS? I'm fairly certain all smartphones have built in GPS these days... I think you'd be hard pressed to find one that doesn't!

There are a lot of very untechnical people these days and you'd be surprised at how many people don't understand how technology works... just thought I'd clarify!

How about an old school Timex running watch? You can get a 30 lap, 50 lap or 100 lap model.
  • There are no GPS running apps for the touch since it does not have a GPS connection. However there are several apps that use the accelerometer to track run distance and pace. I use the Nike+ Ipod app and the Nike Running app to track runs on my iPod Touch.

Folks - My iPod Touch does indeed have GPS on it. It doesn't work well with maps when I am away from WiFi because it can't load the map data, but the Touch does have some GPS capability. I've been using it with MapMyFitness, and so far, it works VERY poorly and way overestimates my distance. I am working to find out if that's because the App or the GPS is the issue. Will be trying RunKeeper next.

Correction: I just looked up more info. No GPS on the Touch. It tries to figure it out from WiFi signals. I must have a lot of WiFi in the area I go skiing/biking in! :)
