I have been addicted to lemon water with splenda (lemonade I guess you would call it?) lately. Am I still getting the water I need from this or should I quit adding it?

It still counts as water, but splenda is not good for you to have all the time.

I add lemon slices to mine, but I'm leery of artificial sweeteners ... I would definitely say it still counts as water, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to wean yourself off of it. Maybe reduce the splenda a bit at a time until you don't miss it.

This is JUST my opinion, but I think you're fine doing that. I know artificial sweeteners aren't good for you but if you weren't doing that, maybe you wouldn't be drinking the water then? So, if it helps you drink lots of water, I say do it! As for lemon, I just saw something yesterday or Dr. Oz about the acid in lemon helping you to digest food more slowly, thus helping you stay fuller longer.... so another plus!! I say go for it! Just watch how much splenda you add to it? Good job!

    Dear Ashley,
The lemon is a great additive! It helps your body flush out toxins! You can't lose with the lemon water. That being said, there is a lot of concern over Splenda and other artificial sweetners. Some studies suggest that Splenda kills up to 50% of the intestines good bacteria, so your whole system could be compromised. Anyway, Splenda isn't very good for you. Slowly, try to cut the amount of Spenda you are using in each glass down daily until you no longer need it to enjoy the lemon water. You'll start to crave lemon water even without any sweetner... Really.
Good luck and I wish you well on your journey!

    Ashley,
When I said you can't "lose" with lemon water, I meant you can't go wrong. Just realized that could have been interpreted differently than I intended. :blushing:

Yup still water. I drink my water with the nestea iced tea singles and they are sweetened with sucrlose but that is how I get my water. I use to be a diet pepsi addict but figure the singles are much better and as a previous poster said if it wasn't this it would be much worse.

thanks guys-I know that Splenda isn't the best for me..I only use like 3 packets per 32 Oz...I don't think I am over sweetening it, and I don't do it to ALL my water-just at work. Thanks :)

Skip the splenda and stick to the lemon. I actually don't like either so I just do my water natural and cold, it had to be cold.

I know splenda isn't the best thing for you... but the main reason I dont use it any more is that sucralose... and most other artificial sweeteners or "modified sugar" is made to make you more hungry! I'm already hungry enough as it is, I dont need any help making myself more hungry!!
