What exactly counts as strength training?

I am trying to start doing more than just cardio. I have started some light weight routines. But I also want to do more for my abs, are those strength? Or do weights have to be included to count as strength? I am completely new to this stuff sorry if I seem like an idiot here.

You don't need weights to do strength training, particularly as a beginner. Pushups are strength exercises, as are body weight only squats. You can actually Google "Bodyweight Exercises" for a whole bunch of bodyweight only strength exercises.

    Good question.

I think to count as cardio excersises, it would be anything that keeps your heart rate elevated for an extended time period. To be a strength excersises, it would be something that required repeatedly moving against resistance.

Calisthenics (push ups, squats) are listed under cardio.

Under exercises, you can put strength training, which I'd consider any workout with weights or doing squats, lunges, etc. Push-ups and sit-ups are under "calesthenics" and actually get you a few more calories burned per minute....

Push-ups, pull-ups, and sit-ups are also listed under strength training. If you don't generate an elevated HR from doing them within a cardio routine, i.e. calisthenics, then they can be strictly listed under those specific exercises as strength training.
