My father passed away in December of last year. I always felt like I never quite made him proud enough because I always struggled with my weight and it worried him. Next April we are planning a trip to go to Mexico and spread some of his ashes on the beach. It occurred to me that would mean pics of me in a bathing suit on the beach. Not cool. I used to weigh over 200 pounds and I lost and have kept off 30 but could never seem to find the motivation to loose the 60 more that I want to drop. When my dad passed and we decided to go to Mexico to honor him (he loved the beach) I found my inspiration. I made an announcement on Face Book that I was determined to lose 60 pounds by this time next year so I could I proudly wear a bikini on the beach for the first time in my life. I had my husband take pics of me that were so not flattering and posted them for all to see. I have gotten so much support and great ideas for my journey. So, today I joined MFP. So far I love it! I need friends though, we all need support to do this!

Hey Karen, I have been on this weight loss journey since November 14. In the first month, I lost twelve pounds just by making one major change in my life and that was no alcohol. Once that month was over, I decided that I would start planning a weekly menu and shopping by that. This helped some but, I find that if I do not actually chart my food on a daily basis, I do not do as well. After that month, I slowly starting easing into some exercise and I keep building it up. To date, I have lost 40 pounds however, since joining My fitness pal, I have lost 8 pounds. Little steady changes will help this experience be a success. My name is KW and I can be a buddy.
