I believe the current guideline is 1500 per day. It used to be 2300 for those who are not in a high risk group for high blood pressure, and 1500 for those who are, but I believe they changed that.

it still is 2300. 1500 if you have high risk factors regarding blood pressure and other health issues. i did some research on this because this is a huge problem for me food wise. all theprocessed food i was intaking had me at about 6000 mg a day. really bad. so yeah i am currenly contemplating taking it from 2500 to 2000. :)

1500-2000 a day. 1000 is too low and you'll find it's hard to keep sodium down. I try to keep mine under 2000 but sometimes, like lately, it goes up to 2500. Bleh.

2500 mg MAX per day has been the general guideline for years but it's recently been revised downward to 1500 mg max per day from what I've read. I'm usually pretty careful about sodium because I do notice quite a difference if I go over 2000 mg per day. I try to stay under 1500 but it's TOUGH if you eat any commercially prepared foods at all. They pack sodium into everything. UGH.

i keep mine consistently under 1500mg per day with no difficulties.. i simply dont use many processed/canned foods and that sure helps cut the sodium! (diary is open if you would like a look)

the minimum a person needs per day is 500 mg (according to my Dr) and that can easily be had just through the raw foods themselves so no fear of having too little.

if you have high BP (as i do) the Drs generally recommend 1500-1800 max per day (or lower).. at least the ones i've dealt with so far.
