Prior to my lifestyle change, i had terrible heartburn, I used everything from tums to pepto to zantac to perscripotion pils pretty much everyday. it would wake me up in the night, it would hit me after every meal, it was terrible, but I lived with it, because thats just the way it was........Now I am 2weeks in and haven't even thought about my bottle of tums, no heartburn period...........i guess thats just another thing to use as motivation to continue.

When I started MFP, my asthma was out of control. I was seeing the pulmonolgist and or my primary MD about twice a month, and was on multiple inhalers and was off and on prednisone and antibiotics. This had gone on for over a year. I started MFP in January, and started out very slow with exercise. After about a month, I was off all of my inhalers and now can stay on my treadmill (time permitting) for close to two hours at a time.0

So many more benefits than just losing weight when you adopt a healthier lifestyle. Well done!0

I understand completely. I had acid reflux so bad that there were times at night when I almost went to the hospital. I had all of the symptoms of a heart attack but almost at the time of deciding to go to the hospital it would subside, but that was after a hand full of tums, maalox, pepcid and almost anything else I would think would help. It almost always followed a late night meal or snack, but after the loss of weight it immediately stopped. I haven't had to take anything for acid reflux for almost 4 months. Wow what a blessing.0

I had not even noticed, until I read your post, that I have not had heartburn since I started MFP a few weeks ago. Another benefit of MFP and cutting out soda.0

That's fantastic!! THAT is what this is all about!! Losing pounds and dress sizes, as wonderful as they are, are nothing compared to our health and getting OFF medications!0

I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it either - but I used to suffer from acid reflux - but I haven't' in a long time now. A large part of my motivation was to lower my blood sugar, and lipids - which I have done, as well.0

Awesome!! I tried so hard to reduce my cholesterol, and did. Still have to take script but only a quarter of what I orig had to take.
Health is SO worth all the work, isnt it!??
