So, lets just say life after college is somewhat...depressing. It's been about 7 months since I've graduated from UF and my life is nothing to brag about. Not only am I back home with my parents, but I have a job that has NOTHING to do with my degree and worst of all, I'm slowly putting on weight. I've accepted the fact that my job and living arrangements are temporary. But what I can't accept is this weight gain. And being that my weight is the only thing that I can control, I figured I'd tackle it now before it gets out of hand. So my best friend and I decided to support one another on our journey to lose weight. She's doing weight watchers, and I'm doing MFP. (Same concept, different approach) Hopefully, I can stick to my calories and shed some of this weight I've put on since I've been home and over the years. I LOVE playing my Wii. So that will be one tool I use to stay active/excercise. Today is Day 1. Any pointers, advice? I need all the help and support I can get! .

I am in the same boat! I graduated last May and like you I am living at home doing a job that has nothing to do with my degree. I've decided that I am going to be moving this summer so that's a huge motivator for me to lose weight. I guess I gained all my weight in college, too much beer and bad habits. It's time to do something about it! A wii is a good form of exercise but I also really like to do workout DVDs. I recommend Jillian Michaels. I'm doing her new DVD Ripped in 30 and have seen great results. Good luck girl!

Well, first of all, CONGRATS!!! on the great accomplishment of completing college. :) Majority of college grads will move back home after graduation, don't let that discourage you. The economy is extremely tough right now, things will improve. As for th e weight loss, you could start with asking your parents to support you and have as much healthy food in the house as possible. The fact that you have a support sytem not only here, but at home will make this journey easier. Keep exercising with your Wii, go outside for a walk, do lunges, or situps during tv commercials, etc; you get the picture. But most of all, don't be so hard on yourself, this WILL HAPPEN and the WEIGHT WILL come off!!! Keep positive thoughts and feel free to add me as a friend for some " great cheerleading" Good luck :)

I am in the same situation as you right now but hopefully I can start grad school this fall. I am fairly new as well to MFP as well and I am slowly cutting unnecessary things out of my life instead of just going cold turkey. Just make sure you drink lots of water and eat at least 1200 calories because you can put your body into starvation mode if your not eating enough. But mainly stay encouraged and the weight will eventually fall off. MFP is a great site for us since we are not alone during this process. Feel free to add me if you like! Good Luck!
