Any amatuer beekeepers out there?

Thinking about getting into it and putting up a couple hives. Does anyone out there do it. There is a class that penn state puts out biannually(just missed one :ohwell: ) I am wondering if its worth it? I mean garedening wise it absloutely is and I am a honey fanatic...
