I probably already know the answer to this, but is it a big deal if I go a little over my 1200 calories in a day, most days I'm between 10-30 over, and I've given up the sodas and liquid calories. Also, if I get a severe headache, and I am truly hungry, even after drinking water, should I just say screw it and eat a healthy snack, even if it puts me even more over? I'm pretty new to this whole dieting thing.

It's a good idea to stick to the amount they give you, but go over a little if you're hungry. Maybe try foods that are more substantial with protein, fiber, wholegrain etc. Also things like green vegetables are real fill up foods. Maybe that's why you're still hungry because you're eating less substantial foods?0

do some form of excercise everyday and u can eat a few more calories !0

If you continue to get hungry every day, you might want to set to fewer pounds loss per week for a bigger calorie cushion. An extra 30 calories won't matter much, it's not like a healthy snack is a huge meal binge! I say within 100 is a great job.0

Assuming you have your diary set to "lose 2 lbs per week", you ALREADY have a 1000 calorie deficit built in (500 if you chose 1 lb per week).
you would have to eat almost 1000 calories OVER goal to be eating at MAINTENANCE, and MORE than 1000 calories over goal to gain any weight back. (again, 500 if you chose 1 lb per week)
Think of that 1200 (which is probably too low to begin with if you feel hungry all the time) as a goal to REACH, not a goal to stay UNDER. Too much of a deficit can cause all kinds of problems and you need to eat 1200 BARE MINIMUM each day. If you LIKE seeing the numbers stay green and having it say you were "under goal" that day, then you could change your goal to 1 lb per week, and just make sure you ate anywhere between 1200 and that new higher number. That way, if just over 1200 satisfies you, then you are all set, and if not, you have a cushion to eat more safely that STILL puts you on track for 1 lb a week loss.
Just make sure you eat ENOUGH. a LOT of times when people hit a plateau they have to eat MORE to start losing again. There is no need to starve yourself, this is not a race. A slower healthier loss is easier to maintain in the long run.:happy:0 -
Good idea about changing the pound loss to 1/week. Due to gastrointestinal problems I have to be very careful how much fiber I take in, and have recently discovered I'm sensitive to whole wheat. I can't even eat Multi-Grain Cheerios without getting sick afterward. I love my veggies and usually fill up on them. I am almost always over on my protein for the day, as I'm normally on a higher protein diet because I have hypoglycemia, and the high protein helps keep it under control.0

I just checked out your diary, the new numbers look great.
See, isn't it nice to know you can eat more and still lose?
There's no reason to HAVE to restrict yourself to the bare minimum. Slower is healthier.
Good luck!0 -
I don't see a problem with it at all. it's not many calories that you are going over, you'll still loose weight on it0

Totally worth a shot. I honestly don't think I'll be able to eat that many calories in a day either, but it'll be nice to see green ^_^0

10-30 cals isn't a big deal.
30 calories over the course of 100 days would still just be 3000. Which is less than a pound. So 1 pound over 3 months isn't a huge amount.0
