Trying to lose 2 pounds a week...

Any tips on making this happen? I did lose two pounds this past week, but I'm worried about the last 2-3 weeks because the water weight will be gone, etc etc etc.
For those of you on a 1200 calorie diet (like me), how do your other stats weigh out if you want to lose 2 pounds a week?
I'm still trying to play with numbers since MFP only recommends losing 1 pound a week (and I don't have that kind of time; have to be body-ready by the end of May for a big event).

I want to do this, I am on 1200 a day and work out at least 30 mins 5 times a week running. Hoping I can do this too
Is this possible anyone???

I'm still trying to play with numbers since MFP only recommends losing 1 pound a week (and I don't have that kind of time; have to be body-ready by the end of May for a big event).
if you are close to your goal weight, it might be pretty unrealistic to lose 2 pounds per week unless you crash diet, which could have some remarkably bad outcomes. and there is not really any way to program your body to do precisely what you want on your schedule since it is not mechanical.
i would be happy with whatever weight you lose and focus on strength training and toning - this would make you trimmer and cause you to lose inches regardless of the number on the scale. best of luck to you.0 -
Me too... I can do it by half hour exercise in the morning, half hour in evening, plenty of water and cut out processed foods.... I've been doing it that way the past 2-3 weeks and have lost the 2lbs (well apart from this week, water weigh TOM)... Jillian michaels has some ace 20-35 minute DVD's out there!

Depends on your current weight. If 1200 calories puts you at a 1,000 a day calorie deficit, yes, it is possible. It probably doesn't (take your weight * 10 for a guesstimate on how many calories you have to eat to maintain your weight --- 1,000 less than that is what it takes to lose 2 pounds per week).
You DO NOT want to go below 1200 calories a day. For many, many, many reasons - but the one that might "speak" to you the most is that you will binge and eat all those calories back anyway. Your body needs energy. Calories are energy. Sure the weight will come off more slowly, but it will come off.0 -
This is also my goal! I just started and hit the mark this week but that is my fear as well. I know that I am trying to get to the gym at least 3 days a week- but strive to make one of those a two hour visit. I am trying to stay as close to my calories as possible. I have an issue with water weight, so hitting my water is esstential. I have read that you should be drinking half of your body weight in oz of water. What she said. The closer you get to your goal weight, the harder it will be to have big losses. Patience is key because to be able to maintain your weight loss, you don't want to do any crash or fad diets. Don't worry...you'll get there!0
