Pulled/sore muscle

I'm not sure what the muscle is called but from my butt, down the back of my thighs...HURTS!

I can't imagine why either. Yesterday I didn't work out, but I went to my boyfriends grandparents house and cleaned up a lot of trash from their property and hauled off some wood. I didn't do any heavy lifting. What could I have done to make that muscle hurt like this?

That muscle is usually referred to as the hamstrings.

If you did a bunch of bending and lifting whereas you usually sit all day, you could have worked it much harder than usual. The best thing for it is walking as it will work the muscle and get the lactic acid out. If you can, after a warm up go for a jog. If you don't work the muscle, it will only take longer for it to go away.

I once pulled a deep quad muscle (front thigh) from not warming up and then sprinting. The only way I got the cramp out, even after stretching, running, etc, was to sit in a hot tub for 30 minutes.

Were you bending over a lot? I have had the same pain before and I believe it was from standing bent over.

The muscle group is known as your hamstrings :)

The hamstrings function in assisting in activities like walking, running, jumping, squatting, assist with knee extension, and also work some trunk movement.

You also could have what is known as DOMS (delayed onset muscle soreness) it could occur and last 24-48 hours give or take after you have exercised...

It could be also that you just worked your muscles in such as way your body wasn't used to and that may have caused it. No need to fret it does go away and most of us, even seasoned pro's get it from time to time :)

Just take it easy next time you work out or take a day off and you'll be back on your feet in no time :)
