I hate cheat day

I had my first "cheat" meal last night. I ate too much and drank to much, which lead to eating even more. I went over my calories by about 1000. I feel like crap today. I feel like it is a step back in my progress. I feel the water weight. My fingers are swollen.

"Cheat" day . . .maybe better to have a cheat item or two. I try to have one or two "treats" per week, but I don't go as crazy as I once did.
Also, I find the ucky feeling I get when I truly over do it to act as a reminder that moderation is better.0 -
I dont give myself a cheat day because of just that. I go crazy, so I do as viviakay said a cheat item but only once in a while think I need to get myself to a point where I dont go overboard. I only do special occations and holidays. :bigsmile:0

I read in a book called "Body for Life" that this is the exact good thing about a cheat day! You will realize what crapola you feel like when eating garbage and drinking too much and you won't really want to live that way any more. Um, I assume mission accomplished? :laugh:0 -

OH! I can never do cheat days....I feel so sick the next day...even when I splurge just a little I feel it the next day. For me, I don't make off limits foods, if i want a burger I eat one (usually has to be made at home though...extra lean beef freak here)but I account for it and maybe skimp a little elsewhere. I want chocolate, have it.....BUT it may mean cutting back somewhere else that I want ...so I am gettin really picky with what I splurge on.0 -
uggg I feel ya! Yesterday wasn't starting out as a cheat day but last night my brother in law came over and brought us daquiris....chocolate russian for me. I still had 600 calories to eat for the day and I'm not sure if they were blown or not because I couldnt' really find the calories for that....but today I must be retaining water because I'm 3lbs heavier than yesterday. And I just feel heavy today. Blah! I'm hoping that the water weight will have come off by tomorrow...0

I do a cheat meal, not a cheat day. You overdo it if you have a full day.0

It totally is! I love that program and it worked for me a few years ago, and I didn't do a whole cheat day, I did a cheat meal and even then, you realise just how much you were eating and just how sick you feel when you over eat. It's a good thing, you need to train your brain to stop when you feel full and when you don't over eat a lot, it's easier to figure that out. But when you over eat all the time...you turn that switch off in your brain.
My problem, was once I got the weight off, and since I didn't count calories, I was lost when I reached my goal and slipped back into old habits. When all I had to do was count my calories and maintain my weight.
As homer would say "Doh!"0 -

DItto! A "cheat" day for me is going out to dinner. I don't go "nuts" the entire day.0
