Just wondering, if I drink 32 oz. of unsweet tea at lunch would that count for 4 of my recommended 8 oz. glasses of water per day?

i don't know if i counts as water or not, i've been wondering that myself with juices...make sure the tea is decaffinated, otherwise it'll dehydrate you!0

I've wondered that too! I've read some things in the past that say everything has water in it, so the 8 cups a day doesn't need to be so literal. But I'm not sure what really counts, o how much. I can usually get in about 5-6 cups a day easily, and sort of assume I'm getting the rest from the fruits and veggies and juice. But not sure at all...0

According to my Nutritionist it can be counted as water if: no sugar, no cafeine and non-carbonated.0

Depends on the person. Some people say they count tea/coffee others are strict and only count their water. I never count tea or any other liquid as water. That goes under "other" or "drinks" in my diary.0

Everything that has water in it counts as water. Caffeine is a diuretic, so it won't dehydrate you per se.0

i only count plain water towards my water number....i know others count other things but not me....typically 96+ oz a day....0

Very good! I usually only drink water and tea and I have been counting that against my water intake. When I do have soda, juice, etc. I do not count those. I have always wondered and your answers really help! Thanks!0

Personally I only count water, everything I drink gets logged in my diary, but only plain water gets counted as my water for the day.0

We have a good feedback system to tell us whether or not it's ok. The color of your pee. Try to keep it clear.0

I only count water for water intake, minimum 8 glasses a day.0

Any cafeine drink dehydrates your system, so if you drink cafeine tea or coffee, you need to drink the equal amount of water to replace it in your system, making it so you have to drink even more water in your day, so i generally just drink water and lil to nothing else. It may not deplete the entire cup in ur system, im not sure, but its a rule of thumb i go by, that ive heard around before from others.
I will count tea if its decaf only, and i only drink 1-2cups.
On a side note, My personal rule of thumb is dont drink more than 150calories a day on beverages. If i have extra calories to waste, then sure, but if i dont, then absoluetly not.
I also will not drink diet pop, it is soo incredibly bad for you with all the chemicals, tht several doctors have said if your going to drink pop, drink regular pop and dont drink the diet.
Back to the subject, I rarely drink tea, so counting it or not counting it, doesnt make a difference to me. I take my weight and divide it by 15, and that number is the number of cups of water i have to drink a day. Drinking 20cups a day can get rough to me day after day so occasionally, Ill drink a cup of tea to replace the water. I also choose a tea that has potassium in it, and is high in antioxidants. If you excercise, drink a cafeine drink, etc, you have to drink even more water to replace water in ur system. And no other drink to me is considered part of my water intake, except just 1 or 2 cups of tea every week or two... drinking the correct amount of water a day has really helped me lose alot of weight quick, and not just drinking the minimum amount (8cups)0 -
If it's liquid it counts. The 8 8oz number includes the water you get from food. The average american diet contains 4 8oz servings from food alone. In addition to that most people retain 1/2 to 3/4th of the water contained in sugary, carbonated or caffeinated beverages (the percent retained from caffeinated beverages are higher for people who consume caffeine regularly). That said water is good for your skin and in some people it helps with feelings of hunger. So drink up.0

The only thing I count is plain water and decaf tea. I drink 12-16 or more glasses a day.0
