January 17th this year, I was 177 lbs. at 5'7". Certain times of day, clothed, I even showed 185lbs. I was taking in probably 3500 calories per day at times. I was NOT exercising. I had no motivation. I felt trapped - like there was no point in trying to get smaller because I couldn't stop my cravings. I would cry because clothes didn't look good and I was no longer buying clothes I liked but clothes that would suffice in what they would cover up. Well, I stopped listening to my own "hate talk". I quit chowing down on the high sugar foods. I started taking down my carbs. I actually started MAKING my own food, instead of telling myself I didn't have time or it wasn't worth it and it tasted horrible. I learned not to hate "fats", but to really hate sugars. I started losing the weight. 4 lbs one week... 2-3 the next few... until I hit healthy range. Then, I started WANTING to move more. So I started exercising. Tried some Jillian... realized I'm the kind that gets bored easily... so I started running in place while I watched tv... eventually, I tried a few push ups... read more and learned about lunges and split squats... just little steps here and there. Then I started running. Since I started running, I've done it almost every day (rested when my legs needed it). And I want you to know... tonight, I had to pee really bad and no bathroom was open at the high school track... the storm clouds were rolling in... I was tired... it did actually start raining on me at one point... there were healthier looking people at the track... I had PLENTY of outs but I did not pay attention to my "hate talk"... the "don't embarrass yourself" or "gosh. i don't want my hair messed up" or "maybe you should just give up on this running thing", etc. And I ended up running 6 miles in 62 minutes!!!! I have NEVER ran 6 miles. Just want to motivate you guys out there. I know summer is coming and we may be prone to letting go and forgetting all of the realities of WHY we wanted to get fit over winter (or whenever) but DON'T LOSE SIGHT OF THAT. Stay strong, don't give up, educate yourself, improve a little at a time... and I know you CAN accomplish great things.
