Hey everyone
I'm really wanting to condition for marathons this time next year so I would be sponsored I would like to stick with running at least 100 miles a month that's about 3.5 miles a day. What do you guys think? How many miles do you all run in a month or would like to?

I used to run for my school. I was in Cross Country, Track, and participated in field. I already average about 3-4 miles a day running, I just want to set goals for a month and stick to them0

Sounds great. I'm more into cycling myself. But I know running strengthens your heart as well as your legs.0

I generally walk AT LEAST 3--5 miles EVERY Day. Running is out because of my knees, but I think if you start small and increase your time and speed as your body gets conditioned to it, you should be able to run as much as you want to.
The KEY is to start S-L-O-W-L-Y.
:flowerforyou: Good Luck, and let us know how your training goes.0 -

100 miles a month is very doable if you've built up towards it (increase milage 10% max a week). I am avg. about 30 a week so between 90 and 120 (depends how many weeks in the month). It's not bad, about 4 miles M and T, 8-10mi Long run Wed, short 2-3 on Th, Friday off, 6-7 Sat, and speed or intervals totaling 4-5 (with warm up and cool down). This is not much for serious runners, quite a few marathon runners I know do 50mi a week for base and go up to 70/80 during training. Vary the distance each day so you train strength, endurance, and speed using different muscles. You'll be ready to do some marathon training if you set a good base starting now. Find out if there is a local running club and check in with them.
Good Luck!0 -
My in-laws have a treadmill and within 2 days, I ran 9 miles.....totalling 2 hours. You can do it. Ignore the naysayers! I don't have a gym membership and with our schedules it's hard to get over there(there being the in-laws house) comfortably, BUT they're away...hehehehehe...so we've been visiting their gym...lol. Anyway, just try it, but be sure to include strength training(2-3x per week) to maintain your muscles, because too much cardio alone will actually use your muscles as fuel when the protein runs out.0

I wish I had my own treadmill, or even the space for it :P That's awesome that you're using their gym lolllll. i'd do the same0 -
100 miles per month or 25 miles per week is very doable.
I do 200+ miles per month, been doing it for 8.5 years now (have done over 16,000 miles - none of it on the dreadmill).0 -

Her heart is going to love it, because she'll have good cardiovascular health. That's the real benefit from working out. Anyone can lose weight through diet alone.0
