What is success? How do you measure it? I know everyone on this site has different goals and different ways of measuring their own success. What is it to you?
For me, success is measured in many different ways.
1) Weight loss
2) Inches lost
3) temptation resisted
4) physical challenge accomplished
5) physical expectation exceeded
6) satisfaction and confidence felt in daily life
7) good choices that i make without realizing it.
Please share how you measure your personal success.

There's the scale factor, but the closer I get to my final goal (and changing my outlook), the more I'm trying to push that aside. My new measures of success will be based on strength levels:
1. number of pushups
2. situps
3. max squat weight
4. max bench weight
and can't forget my biggest motivator:
5. amount of flab remaining around the stomach.0 -
Success is definitely more than just a number, when I FEEL like I'm successful, when I'm content with the choices I've made and when I KNOW that I've tried my hardest and given it 100% and learned something, that to me is success0

1) decrease in body fat percentage
2) weight lost
3) inches
4) noticing muscle definition and decrease in flabby bits(LOL)

thats an awesome way of putting it:)0

1) My running times (5k, 10k, 1/2M)
2) The amount of reps of resistance training I can do
3) The way my clothes fit
4) The way my body looks
5) Scale (working on this one the closer I get to my goal easier it is getting)0 -
Weight lost
Inches lost
RHR lowered
Difficulty of getting active HR up
Increasing Intensity of exercise
Eventually, the way my body looks/clothes fit will follow these things.0 -
For me, it takes a loooooong time for the scale to recognize my success so I have found many other ways to measure it:
1. Seeing my body fat % drop from 32% to 26% since Jan 1!!!
2. Losing inches
3. Having a Victoria's Secret bikini I want to rock on the beach this summer
4. Knowing I'm making lifestyle changes by taking things slowly--each time I make a new step towards health, I celebrate!
5. Knowing I'm helping my husband healthier just by the meals I prepare and what food we keep on hand in the house
6. All the other health benefits that come with eating right and exercising... fewer aches, better skin, having more energy, having more motivation, etc.
7. And yes.... pounds coming off the scale is nice, too when it happens0
