Recumbent Bike vs Regular Bike

Hi Everyone!

I have a Mongoose bike and I try to ride 3 - 4 times a week. However, I have back and neck problems and was wondering if a recumbent bike would enable me to ride longer. It seems as though you would not burn as many calories on a recumbent bike though. True?

Thanks in advance and have a great day!!

i would think you burn about the same cause your legs are still moving, you're just in a different position. you might be able to pump your arms better on a recumbent which would help elevate your HR. i personally prefer a recumbent bike because it is easier on your back and your tushy!!!!!

I ride a recumbent bike at the gym, just because it puts less pressure on my back. I'm not sure what the calorie difference is between them though.

Thank you so much! I'm a little new to this so I apologize for the late response. I used to have a stationary recumbent bike like they have at the gym but I sold it a while back. I get very bored very easily :) So... I began taking my bike to a local trail where I can safely ride and see deer and wild turkey and armadillos :) I enjoy the scenery so it doesn't seem like much work for me. But... I hurt my neck within the first few days of riding and I already had a previous neck injury so I was looking into a recumbent bike. Since this post, I have priced them and was unpleasantly surprised! :) So... for now I will stick with my regular bike and get through it :)

Have a great weekend and thank you again!!!!!!!!!!!!
