Struggling with Italian roots in NYC

Hi All!
My name is Jenna and I just recently moved to New York City aka Reastaurant Heaven! That hardest part about living here is seriously saying no to all the temptation around me. Wining and DIning is about the whole experience, not just the food...but let's be honest, it all starts with "what are you in the mood for?"
I grew up in an Italian family and there was that one rule we all had to abide by : "Finish your plate." Oh and yes that has stuck with me! I used to finish my plate bc #1 mom and dad said so and #2 we didn't get dessert if our plate wasn't clear! Now tho I finish my plate for 2 other reasons. #1 If I pay money (city life is tough, we're all looking for wallet friendly places) you can bet i'm finishing every piece of what I paid for. and #2 It's about respect. I grew up thinking for so long that I couldn't waste food, that if I actually DID throw food away I'd feel so guilty. You can't disrespect food like that...none of it ever deserves to be thrown in the trash - it serves no purpose there haha. I'm sounding ridiculous and only trying to make my little stuggle comical.
Anyone else out there dealing with this???

Yes ma'am I do. I was brought up basically the same way. It is hard to get yourself going in a different direction. When eating out I will eat about half of it and take the rest home. At home I just do smaller portions. Feel free to friend me if you like. I hope you have great success on your weight loss journey.0
