I have lost 12 pounds in the last few months and have noticed that my hair is falling out like crazy. Has this happened to anyone else? I just started taking a multivitamin, hoping this will help.

  • The vitamins will help, but make sure you're getting enough protein. It could be a "spring" thing too...

Have you had surgery or a baby recently? Or could be a thyroid issue. In a few weeks of taking vitamins, upping protein and even add a biotin supplement...if it has not stopped i would check your thyroid.

do you have bald spots now? if your hair is falling out, the best course of action is to see a doctor. it might not have anything to do with your diet and exercise.

    possibly thyroid problem
    or stress.
or rapid weight loss can do that.
ZINC, ZINC, ZINC - is what my doctor tells me to take if my hair is falling out like crazy. (which it sometimes does)

 My baby is 13 months old, but my hair is falling out like it did after I had hm. I'll try upping protein (I don't really like protein ) No bald spots, just thinner than normal!
  • As a hairstylist, if I have a client tell me they have noticed an unusual amount of hair loss I advise them to go get blood work done. Hair loss can be caused by so many different things, thyroid problems, hormone imbalance, and stress being among the most common. Remember 50 to 80 hairs per day is normal, but if you have super thick hair that could be a lot higher. Good Luck!

They changed my birth control to YAZ after my last child. It made my hair fall out! Not a little bit...a lot! It was not an instant thing. It took about 6 weeks to start. It also fell out faster the 6 weeks after I went off of it. It's taken a year for it to be "normal" again.

I also have thyroid issues so it took a while to figure out which thing was the problem. Not fun!
