Is anyone using the new Weight Watchers program? I have been successful on the old program in the past but have gained back 15 pounds. I picked up the new program info. and it looks overwhelming for some reason. If you are on it how much are you losing a week? I averaged 1.5 pounds a week the last time I did it.

A office buddy and myself starting our weight lost journey at the same time I am down 12lbs with 10lbs to go she is still the same. She is doing weight watchers I am eating 5 small meals (no sugar or flour) a day and drinking 8-10 glasses a water a day. I would say if you can stick to the plan to the letter then you will have some success. but as you stated you did it before and you gained the weight back maybe try a diet plan that you can stick to for the long haul so that you wont gain the weight back again...Just my 2 cents. Good Luck! :-)

I was on the old plan and quit weight watchers when they introduced the new plan. I was really close to goal and found myself plateauing with the new plan.
It is not working for people who were on the old plan and already ate a pretty clean/whole food diet which is me. But it seemed to work really well for people who were using their points on processed foods and 100 calorie packs.

The new plan really steers people towards making whole food choices which is good.
  • I'm been on it for 2.5 weeks and I also am not losing weight the way way I did with the old program. It may seem complicated because it's a busy site. There is so much information everywhere. I prefer the old website also because it was very to the point.

I discontinued my WW subscription and switched to tracking on here. The new plan did not work for me, and I didn't want to have to pay for something I had to tweak myself.

I will also add that I read somewhere that WW changed the plan so people would lose weight more slowly- therefore needing to be members longer=more $. They are, after all, a business. Not sure how true it is though.

I Did WW and consistently lost for over a year, then I hit a plateau for a while, I was excited about the new plan thinking it would be what I needed to get back to losing. I was five pounds from goal then. The new plan came and I gained almost ten pounds. It was so confusing and I kept getting different information, I tried to go by the book, but they said info was changing so the book wasn't right, etc... It was sooo frustrating. Finally I decided I wanted to check out the calories I was taking in, and found MFP. Right away I saw how great this site was, and thought I don't need all the headache and to pay for it as well, so I quit WW. I'm 4 pounds from where my goal was at WW, though I have dropped it down five more since.

Exactly, I started out paying and had the guidelines and boundaries I needed. WIth the new plan that isn't there anymore. Least not for those who were using the old plan.

My mom was a leader for many years, and used ww even longer than that, so it's been a part of my life for a long time, I was bummed about having to leave, but I still believe in what they stand for. I believe they really look at the science and Mathmatics of it all. Course theres a need to make money, but I believe it's so much more than that. I just think the new program tailors to people who are just starting out with losing weight. And I think they definitely made some mistakes.

Thanks for the feedback. I do not think I'm going to try the new program. Time to try a new approach. I need some kind of guidelines, I do not have enough self disipline to just count calories.

Ive been doing weight watchers for the last 2 years. I had great success with the old program. Although in theory the new plan seems healthier I wasnt having much success with it. I didnt really gain lbs back but I couldnt seem to lose anymore. I had been a member of MFP before WW so I cancelled my membership with them and now I am back here. I am still using some of the old guidelines to help in my food choices though. One thing about WW is they do help with portion sizes! Good luck with your journey!

I am an ex-Weight Watcher as well. I loved their program, but my mom got me into MFP, which I like even better. I know what you mean about guidelines, and here's what helped me... I print out a blank calendar page each month and I put a sticker on each day that I eat at least 5 servings of fruits/veggies, and another sticker for each day that I do NOT eat more than two servings of any one food. This way, I focus on making sure the bulk of what I eat is healthy, but yet I can enjoy snacks and desserts without going overboard on them. I am also slowly working toward "clean eating," meaning less processed foods. So where I used to eat a Lean Cuisine for lunch, now I have Greek yogurt with fruit and Kashi granola.

Thats why it's great that we can keep an eye on our sodium, fiber, protein, sugar, fats, etc... On here.

I definitely still focus on the healthy guidelines, I think I might be kind of loss here if I hadn't learned about those first. BUT there are a lot of people here with lots of knowledge, and all kinds of people with great ideas, so most likely I would have gotten figured out anyways.
