Weight loss due to stress

I am in a very stressful situation in which the outcome may be be ending my 3 yr relationship, moving 700 miles away, having no job, and a nasty bunch of debt. I've dropped 3-4 lbs in 5 days. I am still following through with MFP because my goals in life haven't changed, my health being the most important, and eating my calories to lose 1 lb a week. Is stress the reason I dropped this extra weight? And why?

Every ending means a new beginning. A year from now it will all be a distant memory. You'll get through and remember you have all of us to help.0

yes, stress can do that. Back in November I lost 10lbs from stress in 1 week... however I gained most of it back within 2 weeks.
make sure you eat enough thru this time and take care of yourself.... I ate little snacks and protein shakes that week so I could function... and remember to drink water.
other then that, big hugs to you... and I hope that it resolves quickly. I agree that this may just be another door opening for you, but that doesn;t ease the hurt ((((hug))))0 -
I lost 50lbs in 2 months once due to stress from a bad breakup, so I would think that yes, thats probably it.
I was very antsy and restless, maybe that burns calories, couldnt eat either..I did pick up smoking for a short time too..bleh!
I honestly wish you a good life and hope that everything happens fast and good for you in every aspect.
You will get through this and it really will work out, I didnt think it would ever be good again but now its better than ever, so hang in there, kiddo.

Stress can make people lose or gain weight. In 2007 I went from 225 to 150 in 3 months from a very stressful time in my life. Naturally it ALL plus some came right back the next year when life straightened out. I wish I knew why, but I don't. Best of luck to you!0
